| 概要 | Typical treatment for drug users has supposedly changed from punishment to welfare and medical treatment. In particular, drug policy makers need to consider not only criminal issues but also welfare and medical issues. I expect that drug policy will become more welfare-oriented in the future. In fact, this will be the result of the increasing enmeshing of private rehabilitation groups and self-help groups within criminal justice and social welfare conceptualizations.
New types of policy that are more curative in their aims towards drug addicts have increased and have been put into practice recently. For example, compulsory and coerced(mandatory) drug tests are used in criminal justice practices, and prisoners are required to attend group meetings in prisons. |
